Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday described the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, as somebody who had no human enemies.
According to him, the only two enemies Awo had were poverty and ignorance.

Aregbesola noted that it was this guiding philosophy that made the late politician put everything he had into the fight against the two.
This, he observed was one of the reasons the defunct Action Group (AG) which he led was a success.

Specifically, the Osun State governor who spoke at the 2014 Awolowo Memorial organized by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, said Awo had a clear vision on what he was able to achieve in many sectors.

He however lamented that today’s leaders lack such vision in their different endeavours.

According to him, this was the reason that leaders lack the template upon which they could build the future.

Aregbesola stated that it was in a bid to fight the errors of the past that his administration embarked on proactive policies in Osun State.

In her speech, the executive secretary of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundtion, Dr. Tokunbo Awolowo Dosunmu described Awo as a detrabilised Nigerian.

She said the refusal to take Awo’s prescriptions on constitutional development was one of the causes of the nation’s misery. According to her, Awo would have loved Nigeria to toe the path of regionalism and resource control for growth and development.
