Stemming corruption...

The issue of the two bullet-proof cars purchased for the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, has generated much controversies and made headlines in the dailies as rightly expected. Like any other Nigerian, I am grieved by the unseriousness of our governments in taming this monster called corruption. The position now is, “If you cannot beat them join them”. I am sure Ms. Oduah, did not request and at the same time approved the purchase of the cars herself. The salient questions are: How much of the money did the approving authorities receive as kick-back? Was any of her predecessors given similar welfare package? Are the cars personal or official? But, it is obvious Oduah is not in this alone. Afterall, who queries any state governor’s security vote or the legislator’s constituency allowances? Investigating or sacking her is meaningless, if one looks at it from the past experience. Except a military bulldozer comes around, no African has the conscience to leave office.
