Hunter arrested for killing fellow hunter

A 30-year old hunter, simply identified as Musibau has landed in police net, for allegedly killing a fellow hunter, Ore Sunday Ijasa, during a night hunting expedition in Igbara Odo, in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

According to a police report, Musibau, who lives at Owode Street in Igbara-Odo, committed the alleged murder around 2:30a.m on August 5, 2013.

Spokesman for Police in the state, Mr Victor Babayemi, said the suspect, while being interrogated said he mistook the deceased for an antelope while they were hunting in the bush at night.

Remains of the victim have been deposited at the mortuary while autopsy was said to have been conducted on him.

The police spokesmaan, however, revealed that there were inconsistencies in the statement made by the suspect during preliminary investigations.

Babayemi said investigation was still going on the alleged murder case, adding that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
