Driver survives after Vine video shows truck's plunge off Michigan highway

“He was seat belted in and the airbags deployed,” Flint said Wednesday. “This guy is very fortunate.”

The truck launched off a median and landed in a creek bed.


Wild video shows the moment a pickup truck pulling a trailer vaulted off a highway in Michigan.

The driver — identified as 58-year-old Mark Moerland, of Kentwood — survived the terrifying plunge about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Moerland was driving west on I-96 in Delhi Township, south of Lansing, when he suffered a medical condition.

His pickup truck, carrying a rideable lawnmower, veered into a median and then sailed over — slamming about 20 feet down in a dry creek bed, Ingham County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Flint told the Daily News.
