Selena Gomez turns 21, makes video

She ushered in a new wave of Disney teen royalty with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, but now Selena Gomez has a burgeoning career outside the House of Mouse. As she prepares to release her solo studio album debut, 'Stars Dance,' on July 23, let's take a look at how the young starlet has grown up before our eyes these past six years.

Selena Gomez's homage to herself for her 21st birthday, aptly named Birthday, is pretty catchy. It's like a Happy Birthday club anthem. According to MTV News, in the wee hours of Sunday night/Monday morning, the pop singer went lo-fi by taking a group of her besties to a graffiti-decorated warehouse to dance suggestively. All the fun, in sync with our sharing-is-caring attitude, is captured on video.
As she tosses her enviously bouncy hair around, she urges fans to "tell 'em that it's her birthday when I party like that," and to "blow your dreams away with me."
Birthday is the second single off her album Stars Dance and the follow-up to Come and Get It.
